Meaning and Purpose: Logging rushes means to rename all the shots you have so that you can easily find them rather than relying on the default names of the shots.
The first thing I did was set up my document in Adobe Premiere Pro, a popular video editing program.
This is how the shots look before this process occurs. As you can see, it is hard to know what shot 00017 is, for example, so renaming all the shots to describe exactly what is going on makes the editing process much easier.
I also imported the audio tracks, both the music overlays and the tracks recorded with the shotgun mic that were used to replace the audio taken from the camera alone.
In terms of editing decisions, most of our shooting was very precise. When I first uploaded all the footage after the shooting days, I had an idea in mind of which take would be the best one. I saved all of these, and so when I was ready to upload and edit the entire project I was already working with the shots that went the best and provided the best continuity for the film.
These are the shots and my music track that I import from my folder to premiere pro.
